[threecol_two] Tomorrow, Thursday, July 2nd marks the beginning of Morikami’s celebration of Japan’s Star Festival, also known as Tanabata! Running through Thursday, July 9th, visitors will have an opportunity to write special wishes for the future on colored paper strips called tanzaku and place them on the Tanabata bamboo in the museum lobby. This mirrors the tradition in Japan, where children and adults write their wishes on tanzaku and hang them along with other paper ornaments, on bamboo branches placed in the backyards or entrances of their homes.
